Born on 31 August 1911, Tom proudly served his country during the Second World War in the Manchester Regiment of the British Army – 8th (Ardwick) Battalion.

During the war he was rescued at Dunkirk and taken to Gibraltar. He then served for 4 years in Malta and was subsequently wounded in the Italian campaign. Towards the end of the war and afterwards Tom served in Germany.

Tom recently celebrated his special day with neighbours from his street and Willow Park Neighbourhood Wardens, Karen and Carl. He was presented with a hamper from Willow Park and neighbours helped him celebrate by decorating his home and garden and calling in throughout the day to wish him well.
