Town Centre Masterplan

9b1People are being given the opportunity to learn more about the vision for Wythenshawe town centre.

Since the Wythenshawe Town Centre Masterplan was approved by Manchester City Council in 2006 there has been considerable progress.

The masterplan was revised and updated last year to enable the town centre to gain the maximum  benefit from new opportunities such as the decision to extend Metrolink to the airport via Wythenshawe.

These include: A new bus station next to the Forum with a modern, high quality design and capacity for extra services.

Etrop Court – a new retail and office development at the northern end of the Birtles mall including Netto and Wilkinsons and a new district office for up to 500 City Council staff.

A new headquarters office for Willow Park Housing Trust on the site of the former Cedars Poundswick Lane. This replaces the former offices at Brownley Road and will house around 140 staff.

Councillor Eddie McCulley, chair of Wythenshawe Area Committee, said: “The plans for a new transport interchange and new district centre for the council are very significant as we work towards not only improving  Wythenshawe, but also attracting new businesses and organisations to the area.

“We’re very enthusiastic about the future of Wythenshawe town centre and look forward to sharing this vision with people who live, work and shop there.”
