Waxing Lyrical

10aIt was a painful afternoon for five brave male staff members at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre as they took part in a sponsored leg wax for Children in Need.

Sarah Woolley said, “I was one of the women chosen to carry out the task of waxing and despite my reluctance to inflict pain on anyone, it was all in a good cause and I would like to do it again please.”

This was the culmination of a week of activities as both staff and customers got involved in the fun. Accompanying the leg waxing was a sing-a-long by the Woodhouse Seniors Club who sang their self-composed song, which they had performed at the Bridgewater Hall, whilst customers enjoyed the home made cakes on sale during the Coffee Morning.

Earlier in the week, young people at the after-school and youth clubs donated £1 each to the charity, whilst toddlers at the parent and baby group ‘Tots of Fun’ decorated cakes and also donated their entry fee for the week and Toe Tappers School of Dance raffled off a large cuddly dog.

In all the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre raised a total of £450.00 for the national charity, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.”

Assistant Manager Jordan Tyms said “It has been a fun week with both staff and customers rallying to what is a worthy cause. It has been heartwarming to see everyone working together. I would like to especially thank all of our customers who have donated generously and helped us to raise the fantastic amount.”
