Wythenshawe Forum Leisure Centre has been awarded a Quest Accreditation at the first attempt.  The Centre achieved a 78% ‘Highly Commended’ mark which places it in the top 20% of highest performing indoor leisure centres in the country.

Manchester City Council led the £19m redevelopment of The Forum Centre which was completed in 2004 and the Centre is managed by the Wythenshawe Forum Trust Ltd.

The Quest scheme is supported by Sport England and measures the standard of management at leisure facilities.  It examines such things as quality of customer care, level of cleanliness, standard of maintenance, range of equipment, booking systems, and quality of staff and it is unusual for a facility to win gain such a high award on the first application.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure at Manchester City Council said: “This award is a credit to the staff of the Wythenshawe Forum and an illustration of the City Council’s ongoing commitment to the provision of high quality indoor leisure facilities in all areas of the City.”

The Wythenshawe Forum award is the third Quest accreditation that Manchester has achieved, the others being won b  Manchester Aquatics Centre and Broadway Leisure Centre  .

Jeff Staniforth, the Chief Executive of the Wythenshawe Forum Trust said: “The Forum Trust is proud of the position achieved and feel it reflects the continual improvement programme which has been adopted with the operating partner, Serco Leisure.  Many thousands of Wythenshawe people continue to enjoy the great facilities at the Forum and we will continue to deliver the best standard of provision in the future.”

The award has also been welcomed by the Real Lives image campaign, which aims to challenge outdated and negative perceptions of Wythenshawe through facts and first hand accounts from local people.
