Residents of Crossacres

Residents of Crossacres are invited to join in the celebration of many months of community action and achievements at Park Wood on Saturday 19th September from 11am.

As well as unveiling the new signage and wooden carvings, there will be many woodland themed activities such as Wildflower Planting, Willow Weaving, Paper Making, Bug Hunts and other arts and crafts, games and fun for the family. Light refreshments will be available on the day. The event will be based at the Longwood road entrance and is free to all.

The Friends of Parkwood need more support to keep up the good work and to apply for more funding later in the year. The next meeting is at The Addy from 7pm on Wednesday 30th September.

Funding for the work in Park Wood, which comes from Greening Greater Manchester, St Modwens Trust and WNF, runs until December 2009. Groundwork are delivering the project on behalf of the Friends of Parkwood and in partnership with Manchester City Council and Red Rose Forest.

If you would like to get involved – to volunteer for clean up days, be notified of activities and events in the woodland or would like to become a Friend of Parkwood and be involved with its management and maintenance then please contact Georgie Brown at Groundwork on 0161 220 1019 or email georgie.brown@groundwork.org.uk
