Markets £754 MacMillan Boost!

2a1Wythenshawe Market Traders organised a week of fundraising activiaties for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Events included a raffle for a widescreen TV (won by market customer Martin Tymon, pictured), ‘hunt the word’, competitions for children, a bouncy castle, DJ, and MacMillan information stall, with badges on sale, and donations received.

Carol Rowley, Chairperson of Wythenshawe Market Traders’ Committee, said: “Everyone is touched by cancer and we planned the events to try to inform the local community about the valuable services provided by Macmillan Cancer Support as well as raising much-needed funds towards the charity’s work.”

Councillor Paul Andrews, Manchester City Council’s Executive member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “The market is at the very heart of the community in Wythenshawe and I’m pleased to see this event getting people involved in supporting such a worthy cause.”
