Junior Cricket
Wythenshawe Cricket Club’s junior section finished their season on a high note, after a summer of very little sun!
The Junior Section reflected on a season that finished with all sides finishing around mid table, a creditable performace, considering many important matches were washed out and a great improvement on last year!
Next year they hope to be strong contenders for the South Manchester Junior Cricket League’s titles and cups!
The club held two weeks of Cricket School Coaching sessions for around 24 cricket mad youngsters who worked on their skills using equipment donated by Manchester Airport Community Fund with newly qualified coaches.
Each junior member received a goody bag, certificate and a glass trophy for their hard work, and they all have said they will return next year.
WCC held their Annual Junior Presentation Evening with a fantastic turn out from tplayers and friends at the Clubhouse on Longley Lane Northenden. All the youngsters received medals and individual awards went to Ross Crowther and Liam Dodd (Batting) Vaughn Corrie and Johnathan Dickens (Bowling) Jordan Lee and Sam Grant, Leon Ritchie (Fielding).
Most improved awards went to Rory Ashworth and Arran Riley.
Ryan Booth and Ross Crowther were presented with “Players players” cups for their age groups and Liam Booth received the Ravi Gokal Cup and £70 for cricket equipment.
WCC and the Junior Committee thanked parents, friends and sponsors for their support.
