Independents’ Days

Paul Goggins, the MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East, met local traders at Wythenshawe Market to support National Independents Week.

Mr Goggins was accompanied by Woodhouse Park councillors Barbara O’Neil, Brian O’Neil and Eddy Newman as they helped promote the importance of independent trading in Wythenshawe.

“It is important that we support independent traders and the contribution they make locally. In Wythenshawe we have a very successful market that is used and appreciated by many residents in the area, supplying high quality produce, and helping the locally economy.”, said Mr Goggins.

“There is concern in the retail industry regarding the economic downturn and I will continue to work with the local traders in Wythenshawe to help maintain the important position they play in community life.”

Woodhouse Park Councillor, Eddy Newman, said: “As local representatives, we support the Wythenshawe market and want to thank the independent traders for their hard work. We appreciate the commitment made by these traders in our community, and we will continue to support the contribution they make in the civic centre.”
