80% Satisfaction
Patients about to be discharged from Wythenshawe Hospital have been electronically rating their quality of care, and 85% are very satisfied.
The ‘Patient Experience Tracker’ has been trialled on 10 wards at the hospital over the last 3 months. It is a small handheld machine which asks patients to rate the cleanliness, attitude of staff, information provided, quality of care and overall satisfaction they have experienced during their stay at Wythenshawe Hospital.
‘Real time feedback’ is proving very useful as Ward Managers get weekly reports enabling them to take action on areas where patients feel improvements could be made.
Chief Nurse, Mandy Bailey said “Patient feedback is vital to help us continuously improve our services. It has proved empowering for the ward managers as they can put into place changes directly requested by patients”.
Ward managers are now changing the questions to reflect the priorities of their area, for example questions about signage around the hospital and length of waits for appointments.
