Too Nice to be Nasty

When Richard Carvath, 32, of Ellesmere Park in Salford was approached by the organisers of the ‘Wythenshawe’s Got Talent’ Contest he thought he was more than able to meet their request for a ‘Simon Cowell type’ Judge. Richard, an accomplished rock and soul musician, agreed to take on the role of Cowell but found that being nasty did not come naturally!

Richard said: ‘At the first round of auditions a couple of weeks ago I ended up being quite nice to everybody. My fellow Judge Delia Maunders said I was more like Amanda Holden than Simon Cowell!’

Richard’s fellow Judges are the soprano singer and vocal coach Julie Parker and also Delia Maunders, the Conductor of the prestigious Manchester Girls’ Choir.

Richard said: ‘ ‘Wythenshawe’s Got Talent’ is based on the popular TV talent shows and we saw a variety of acts in the auditions - from singers, dancers, rappers and guitarists to a comedian and a beatbox MC. There is some terrific talent out there and it is now up to the public to vote for their favourites to make it through to the Grand Final.’

Members of the public are invited to watch the internet videos of the semi-finalists and then vote for their favourites before the 5pm deadline on Friday 10th October; go to http://www.wythenshawesgottalent.co.uk and follow the link for ‘Wythenshawe’s Got Talent’ on the homepage. The votes cast will determine who the finalists will be and it will then be down to Richard, Julie and Delia to pick the winners in three age categories in the Grand Final at The Forum in Wythenshawe on Friday 17th October, with the overall winner taking home a £500 cash prize.
