Memories of the Golden Garter

It is forty years this week since Manchster’s most famous cabaret club opened on Rowlandsway, Wythenshawe. Shep’s Banjo Boys, the venue’s resident band, clocked up more than 1000 performances at the Golden Garter, and went on to appear on ITV’s ‘The Comedians’
The group’s pianist at that time, John Orchard, has tracked down all the surviving original members for a re-union for anyone who worked in the club, particularly between 1968 and 1972,and members of the public. The event at the Forum Hall, just a couple of hundred yards from the Garter, which burned down in 1990, will also feature members of the current line up for ‘An Evening With Shep’s Banjo Boys’ with tickets available at £9 from the Forum 935 4020 or through www.WeGotTickets.com
