Get Online Day
Benchill Community Centre, UK online centre is today announcing it’s to give people who have never used the internet before the chance to achieve their first time online at a special Get online day – taking place on Friday 24th October 2008
The centre is inviting everyone along for a first taste of the internet. It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete beginner who wants to take their very first step online, or if you already know the basics but want to learn a bit more. From your first internet search to your first online shop, homework help to health checks, Get online day is your chance to give the internet a go and see how it could help you and your family in everyday life. .
Brenda Grixti centre manager from Benchill Community Centre said: “Everyone at the centre is really excited about Get online day. It will help us show the local community that using the internet is really easy and convenient – and not something to be worried about. It could help you save time money and hassle, and it could even be fun! Get online day is for everyone, so whether you’re 18 or 80 why not come along? We can give you the tips you need to get started. We’ve already helped loads of people get to grips with computers and the internet, and we can’t wait to see even more people give it a go on the 24th! October”
One in three adults in the country don’t use the internet and 27% have never, ever been online at all. Get online day aims to target families in the area who are currently missing out on all the benefits the internet can provide. Last year, more than 10,000 people across England used Get online day as their excuse to give the internet a go, and 98% said they’d had a good time and wanted to keep on using it in the future.
This year, the event at Benchill Community Centre is one of over 500 Get online day events taking place at participating UK online centres, aiming to help even more families get together, get online, and get connected with new services, information and opportunities.
To get in touch, pop into the Benchill Road centre between 9am- 5pm on 24th October or call 945 0879 to chat to member of staff.
