Primary Colours on Parade

Saint Paul’s Catholic High School in Newall Green welcomed children from six local primary schools to experience what life at secondary school is really like! Children from St Anthony’s, St John’s, St Peter’s, St Elizabeth’s, St Aidan’s and Sacred Heart schools made visits to the school and took part in a number of different lessons.

This is one of a number of events designed to bring the primary school children on to the premises of the senior school so that pupils feel comfortable about the move when the time comes to transfer from primary school to senior school. It creates stronger bonds between the schools and allows the primary school pupils to become more familiar with the secondary school.

The youngsters had a great day taking part in a variety of lessons including Food Technology, Science, English and French.

“These were fantastic days which we all enjoyed,” said Assistant Head Russell Paterson, “It’s really beneficial for us to meet these possible future pupils at a young age. After spending time with us, they start to feel comfortable at the school and it helps to build their confidence about moving to secondary school.”

“It is an excellent way for the primary school pupils to become more familiar with Saint Paul’s,” added Head Teacher Wiktor Daron, “Then, when the time comes, it makes their transition to secondary school a much smoother and very positive experience.”
